Home Stretch

I spent many a summer growing up on Shelter Island, where my mom and other relatives lived. I looked forward to going to the beach, seeing friends, and just having a great time in a beautiful place. As I got older, I started to join my mom on her daily runs. We would usually do a big circle on the roads around where our home was located. When we nearly arrived to the finish line, my mom would yell, “home stretch,” meaning we are almost there, hang tight Kimber! Those words gave me just the encouragement I needed to finish it. Similarly, there are moments in our lives that feel like they are leading us to some sort of finish line – like we are so close to arriving at some sort of destination. We can feel when the stars begin to align, like everything starts to falls into place at just the right time. The key here is to not blow it (!) ha like I have done many times in my past! Luckily, we are always gifted a second, and third, chance. Third time is a charm as they say. When we got to our “home stretch,” I’d dig deep and discover the tiniest amount of energy to make it home, which I didn’t even know I had, as I was always so exhausted, but we can surprise ourselves sometimes. If you are at the end of a project, or close to finalizing something in your life, or just feeling like there is a change on its way, I suggest you hold tight, dig deep, and muster up that last bit of energy to make it to the finish line!

Home Stretch! Almost there.

Peace
