“Do you have the patience to wait until the mud settles and the water clears to take the right action?” Lao Tzu

This is one of my all-time favorite quotes! About ten years ago, my sister brought this quote to my attention in reference to a big life decision I needed to make at that time. My mind was in upheaval telling me to do this, then that. I couldn’t see clearly what my soul truly wanted. She told me this quote as a gentle way to tell me to just simply wait – wait for the mud to settle (my mind to calm) and the water to clear (and the way to appear) so as to then take the right action (make a decision aligned with God, my higher calling). I return to this quote time and time again when I am at a fork in the road, and need to decide whether to go left or right – usually if we are patient and give ourself the space we need to sort through our anxious thoughts, we will arrive at just the right place, at just the right time.

Allow the mud to settle. Then act!

Peace,

Kim
